Linvaders
Linvaders is a one-day electronics boot camp for children aged 8-12. A unique linear take on Space Invaders, the handheld game can be played individually or in an exciting networked multiplayer mode. Each child will build and keep their own Linvaders game, featuring awesome RGB and sound FX! No previous electronics experience is necessary. Along the way, children will learn about electronic circuits, how RGB lighting works, how speakers and electronic sound work - as well as the greatest true story ever told! We close off the day with an exciting tournament - who can hold off the Linvasion for the longest?
Pricing
How much will it cost to run this bootcamp?
We charge £200 plus travel expenses for a highly-qualified, experienced and PVG-cleared Allelon staff member to be onsite and running your group, plus £10 per child attending to cover the cost of the project kits. Allelon will provide the tools necessary to complete the project.
Project Kit Contents
- Bespoke 3D printed parts: chassis, faceplate, diffusers.
- ESP32-C3 microcontroller (pre-flashed with custom Linvaders software)
- Electronics components, including addressable RGB LEDs, buzzer, buttons, switches, connecting wires and a custom Allelon printed circuit board.
- Screws and fixings.
- LiPo rechargeable battery with TP4056 safe USB charging board; USB-A to USB-C charge cable included.
- Instruction manual and directions for how to use a Linvader handset to present the Gospel.

Facilities
What facilities will our church need to provide to run this bootcamp?
To run the bootcamp, your church will need to provide:
- Venue: a room large enough for everyone in the group to sit comfortably at tables, with presentation space (usually "up front") and room for the bootcamp leader to move easily among the group members.
- Furniture: enough tables and chairs for all group members to sit and work comfortably.
- Power: we need access to mains power in the room - even a single socket will be fine.
- Projection: either a built-in projection system we can connect a laptop to via HDMI, or a blank wall and we'll bring a projector.
- Volunteers: some PVG-cleared volunteers (no electronics experience necessary) to help connect with and look after the young people.
- Hospitality: lunch for the group (eg sandwiches or wraps), drinks and an afternoon snack. We can provide a simple lunch if required but it is usually more cost-effective for the church to provide. Please remember to consider food allergies and dietary requirements.
We do not usually require Internet connectivity or a PA system.

What should we do to prepare for a successful bootcamp?
Recruitment
No bootcamp can be successful without young people to do the activity. If you are running the bootcamp for an existing youth/children's group, you may already have a list of young people in mind. If you are looking to make new connections with young people, publicity will be essential - through church newsletters and announcments, local press, shop windows, flyers and social media. We can provide flyers, graphics and other resources to help you publicise your event. Getting the word out early and often can be the key to a great event.
Registration
Make a plan for registering the members of your group, with parental consent and emergency contact details. We can provide you with example registration forms. Increasingly, online registration via a web address or QR code is popular, and we can help set that up for you too - online registration can help you plan your event effectively.
Follow-Up
A good event with a Gospel encounter can have a powerful impact in a child's life - but what happens next? The impact of a one-off bootcamp event can be significantly amplified by scheduling regular follow-up activities, building on the relationships established with young people and their families. Your event is an ideal opportunity to invite your new connections to keep up the connection. Allelon can provide suggestions for follow-up activities or programmes.
